After his weeklong stint as a host of "Play tricks News Primetime" in April, a lot of people were wondering who Ben Domenech is.

The short reply is: Meghan McCain's hubby. The two were married in 2017. But he's also the publisher and co-founder of the Federalist, a conservative online magazine. And by conservative, I mean a site that publishes stories with inflammatory headlines like this i: "Joe Biden is Using Your Revenue enhancement Dollars to Make Kids Hate Their Country."

That kind of bourgeois.

One more for good measure: "Americans Are Irrationally Agape of COVID Considering the Ruling Class Has Demonized Risk."

You get the idea. It has become a far-right repository of twisted thinking that jumped on the Trump train with both feet.

McCain often touted herself as a kind of lonely-wolf conservative on "The View," the popular show she co-hosted on ABC. Sometimes information technology came off as a performative gesture, only her father, the belatedly Arizona Sen. John McCain, was certainly conservative by the standards of what the term used to mean.

If even after leaving "The View" McCain is the more high-profile of the two in popular culture — she's writing a column for the Daily Mail — Domenech has a different part. In her new audiobook "Bad Republican" McCain comments on the media. Domenech is the media, and has some influence — every bit his week hosting "Fox News Primetime" showed. The network, which hired Domenech every bit a contributor earlier this year, has been rotating conservative voices as hosts in the opinion hour, people similar Maria Bartiromo and Brian Kilmeade.

Domenech kicked off his week as host in Apr with a silly rant as absurd as it was false, raving about "a new American crisis," in which he blamed the typical culprits.

"Empathise it is the totalitarian left that wants a national divorce," he said. "They want racial strife that burns down your cities. They want envy and segregation and partition that pays for their meg-dollar homes in Topanga Canyon. They want to annihilate Mountain Rushmore, make y'all pay for abortions, and forcefulness your daughters to compete in sports against men."

They do? Really? This is the kind of nonsense that simply fires up a radical conservative base of operations. It's hyperbolic and absurd. Of class there's more.

"They want to teach your children to detest cops, the anthem, the flag, and everything yous were raised to love and respect. They desire to destroy our not bad American experiment — a thriving capitalist multi-ethnic commonwealth of God-fearing people — for all time. But we're on to them. Nosotros're not going to permit them. And together, we're going to show them what free people practise."

What to expect when Domenech appears on Fox News

In an appearance on "Fox & Friends" Domenech likewise decried Dr. Anthony Fauci for suggesting that gun violence was a public health issue.

"I'm sick and tired of this out-of-his-depth bureaucrat Dr. Fauci feeling that he can just weigh in on any kind of thing socially and have a reaction from America's media and from politicians," Domenech said. "He is completely out of his depth when information technology comes to about whatever issue unrelated to this pandemic and even inside the pandemic, he'southward out of his depth when it comes to a lot of his intonations and his weighing in."

That'south your respond. That's who Ben Domenech is.

Honestly, it's all so over-the-peak it would be funny, if there weren't bear witness that people actually pay attention to such things — and really believe them.

McCain might adopt some curious takes on the events of the day. But she doesn't breathe that kind of fire. If you lot're wondering whether their somewhat different approaches to existence conservative causes whatsoever strife in their wedlock, well, yous aren't the just one.

The first 24-hour interval Domenech hosted someone tweeted, "I don't get how Meghan & him have completely different politics." McCain replied, in typical vocalisation, "We're adults who dear and respect each other. This southward--- isn't complicated."

Indeed, earlier the show McCain wished Domenech luck on Twitter.

"My love, my baby daddy, my partner in law-breaking, my vivid best friend, my husband @bdomenech is hosting @FoxNews prime number time all week starting at 7pm!" McCain tweeted Monday. "I am and then proud and so excited – bring together me in tuning in!" She adorned the tweet with a heart – and an American flag. Of course she did.
